While limited in scope, your municipal office may assist with commissioning a document.
You may want to contact your local municipal office to see if they can help you.
However, your local municipal office is probably not a general notary service. They do not commission every document. They may not notarize any document.
A notary public can handle specific and generic matters requiring both commissioning and notarization.
If you’re ever unsure, the safest approach is to check the instructions from the person or organization requesting the document. They usually specify whether it must be notarized or commissioned—and by whom.
